Religion in the American South

The paradoxes and peculiarities of religion in the American south, the evangelical thrust of southern culture and the growth and expansion of the religious experience through the 21st century are the focus of this new AIB series, Religion in the American South. Taught by Asst. Prof. Monique Moultire of Georgia State University's Department of Religious Studies, the survey of religion from the Colonial Period to the present, shows how the characterization of the south as the so-called "Bible Belt" has given way to an increasingly diverse "New South."
